Legendary independent New York label that was once owned by Gramavision and distributed by Rhino/Atlantic in the 1990s. After Gramavision was purchased by Rykodisc, Tomato became indepenent again in the early 2000s and is now a division of the EGGE Company Limited. One of Tomato's most famous releases was the original pressing of the 1977 recording of Philip Glass's opera Einstein on the Beach.
