Translation Recordings, an internationally oriented drum&bass record label based in Washington DC, was created in the spring of 2004 by childhood friends Will and Brian. Longtime drum&bass aficionados, having spent years hosting and deejaying their own FM radio shows and parties at their respective universities, Will and Brian decided the time was right to establish a new and unique drum&bass imprint.

Translation Recordings aims to break borders and barriers by showcasing new and veteran international talent, and by releasing diverse and cutting edge music with true depth and scope for both the dancefloor and the armchair. Working in close partnership with its artists, Translation Recordings will not only push the envelope of drum&bass music, but also explore divergent genres like abstract, downtempo, and lounge.

Refusing to follow trends and always working against the status quo, Translation Recordings will support musicians who occupy that vital space just below the surface of the mainstream. Operating by a strong ethic of mutual respect and professionalism, Translation Recordings has already established close working relationships with multi-talented and versatile artists like ASC (UK/USA), Mav (Netherlands), Process (USA), Psidream (Canada), Resound (Finland), Sporophyte (Canada), and will continue to keep its ears to the underground for the next generation of progressive musicians.
