Tuff Gong

Profile:
Label founded by Bob Marley on Hope Road 56 Kingston 10 . Besides an outlet for his own records (in JAMAICA only) Tuff Gong also distributed records from likeminded artists , The catalogue consisted of 56 records (mainly 7") in the July 1979 . The Tuff Gong Studios exist in the Island House , were Bob and his family lived since the mid seventies were ready for use since ca 1977 , where the Wailers recorded all Basic Trax for their albums , that got polished up later via Compass Point Studio and mastered in London for the international market . In the eighties a lot of recordings were done in the Tuff Gong studios . Engineer was Errol Brown and musicians were The Wailers . The output was relatively small . Ziggy Marley coming more into Business another chapter started and since the request for Bob Marley songs in remixed versions were enormous Island started to sign a new agreement with Tuff Gong . Lots of Roots albums MADE IN JAMAICA (from Burning Spear for example) are still distributed via Tuff Gong till today .Recorded at Tuff Gong studios or not .
