This label seems to take a development in direction of demanding IDM music. They released some of my favorite outputs in 2010. Keep it up!

Since Integral's debut "Rise" (one of my favorite electronic albums of all time) and "Circumsounds" from Flint Glass I've been a huge fan of this label. Cold, mechanical, yet hugely emotional soundscapes following in the footsteps of the excellent Hymen records. Since many of these releases are perfect for headphone- and living room listening, I'm grieved to see that most of the releases since 2008 have gone downhill in terms of sound quality. Looks like Tympanik Audio's goal has changed from releasing pristine-sounding electronic releases to winning the loudness wars. For example, let's take Geomatic's "64 Light Years Away", an album I've been anticipating for a long long time since the EXCELLENT debut from M-tronic. The waveform of the first track on the record shows the nasty truth - horrible clipping and gone are the dynamics and transients of the debut album. Why, oh why, I must ask? Louder is definitely NOT better but makes the music more fatiguing to listen to. If I wanted it louder - that's what the volume knob is for. I hope someone from Tympanik Audio realizes that. Otherwise, keep up the good work, the artists are really talented, this is still one of the best "underground" electronic music labels out there. Over & out.
