Profile:
German Industrial / Dark Ambient label started to release 7" vinyl in 1993. Those releases are mostly available in their first edition with handmade covers. Some releases were re-released with standard covers. The main theme for the 7"-series is drone / dark ambient music.

Most, if not all, records are also made available as promos. These are the same vinyls, but lack the packaging; instead they come in either a white paper or clear plastic sleeve with the record insert, and often have a promo stamp inked on the center-label.

The label never said, it's all over now. The only thing that is over is the 7" series. And now we have the 12" Drone-Mind Mind-Drone thing and that's great.

After 100 7" vinyl releases and numerous other CD related projects, Drone Records is no more. For a label that has been operating for almost 20 years and has seen many artists, both unknown and popular on their roster, it will be a real shame to see the label go. Long before "drone" music became a popular buzzword for the likes of Pitchfork Media and co, these guys were quietly doing their thing, always with the utmost care for the packaging and quality of their press. They will be missed!
