SNIFFIN' GLUE (The Bible)
All too much it seems has been said about the 1977 UK punk explosion. When the hysteria started in London of 1976 Mark P. a.k.a. Mark Perry was one of the first in the scene to put out his own Punk Rock magazine, "Sniffin' Glue", in July of 1976.
"Sniffin' Glue" was an A4 sized, b&w, cut & paste monthly publication of D.I.Y. art and according to nothing but the rules of Punk aesthetics. 10 issues - at a selling price of 30 pence- were published until June 1977 and months before the initial release of "Never Mind The Bollocks" by The Pistols.
Every issue of Sniffin' Glue featured interviews, record reviews and gig reports on artists and musicians that were yet to become international rock stars !

And that's what makes "Sniffin' Glue" absolutely authentic and important to pop music history and the Punk Rock movement, which turned into worldwide mainstream fashion afterwards.

In 1978 Michael Dempsey Publishing in London comprised a selection of the monthly "Sniffin' Glue" issues into an 80-page book called "The Bible". In it you get interviews face-to-face with THE DAMNED, THE CLASH, THE SEX PISTOLS, CHELSEA (feat. young Billiy Idol !), THE BUZZCOCKS, THE JAM, THE SUBWAY SECT etc. plus raving reviews + censorship free commentary on Punk Rock as well as some really great photgraphy of the artists featured in this book.
Mark Perry formed his own band ALTERNATIVE TV in March 1977 with Alex Furgusson (of CASH PUSSIES) and others, like John Towe (of CHELSEA, GENERATION X), releasing records on DEPTFORD FUN CITY RECORDS before turning into THE GOOD MISSIONAIRES in 1979.
