Sampling the vocal of Fatboy Slim's "Star 69", Funkagenda's track has established automatic recognition ensuring that it doesn't just disappear into the sea of so many similar sounding tech-house records produced today. "What The Fuck" has a definite funky feel to it, thanks to a series of click samples, a big bassey beat and just generally being heavily rhythmic. It breaks down shortly quite near the beginning (there is a longer one later on) to introduce us to the vocal loop: "They know what is what, but they don't know what is what, what the fuck?", What The Fuck being exactly my thinking too, before cracking on, building on itself with electronic water trickling sounds and beeps, bleeps and hisses.

The Funkagenda Remix is definitely the most anthemic and dance floor friendly with its clear breakdown. Kim Fai offers a much deeper and more minimal version of the track, while the Maxie Devine & Veerus Remix sits somewhere in the middle.

The Clean Edit is a different version than the album version (it doesn't just remove the f word). It has some new instruments and is arranged differently. All in all it works very well. The X-Press 2 remix is squared off and club-ready. They do a good job at that but it's nothing more. DJ Godfather, however, mixes the shit out of the track. When I first put that track on I was immediately impressed. It maintains the energetic techy vibe from start to finish and my only complaint is that it finishes too early; if only it were 4 minutes longer! The Full Version of Star 69 has a different intro and outro to the album version (nothing amazing, but its nice to have a solid intro and outro) but the meat of the track remains the same. It's very dancable with serious bass, acid soaked instruments and pounding beat; you've heard it a million times...

Weapon Of Choice is the same as the album version with a few differences. The vocals are much less distorted on this release, which I think suits the track much more as it sounds smoother and funkier. The outro is just a looped scratching sound instead of the screaming nonsense on the album. For an instrumental of this same track, check out the Camber Sands EP.

Overall, this is a great release with every track being solid in their own way. There is no filler here. No, "1. Club Mix, 2. Club Mix Instrumental, 3. Club Mix Edit, 4. Club Mix With Jimmy On Tamborine," bullshit here!

What a beast of a record this is. I usually think that Fatboy Slim is a pile of kak, but this is a superb slice of techno, with the most incredible vocal hook "They just strut, what the fuck". Every home should have at least one copy!
