Easily the best and most consistent album from the Buffalo Springfield catalog. It's a Steve Stills - Neil Young tour de force. "Broken Arrow", "Expecting to Fly", "Mr. Soul" are all Young classics. "Rock and Roll Woman", "Bluebird" and "Everydays" are Stills' classics.
The minor tunes are Furay's compositions. "Sad Memory" is all too cloying. The soul of "Good Time Boy" seems like so much posturing. "A Child's Claim to Fame" is a nice little country tune.
When one thinks of Stills and Young, one thinks of country rock. But two of the gems ("Broken Arrow" and "Everydays") are nice excursions into jazz. I've always cited this album as the best work that Stills and Young have done, and I stand by it.
Buffalo Springfield were not encumbered by the 'supergroup' pretensions of Crosby, Stills and Nash and later Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. I find this album still fun to listen to -- Stills' and Young's later work less so.
