Best album released in 2020 so far, a masterpiece of composition, arrangements and sound engineering.- Edited 2 years agoSwitched to the US press after having to return the European release (awful surface noise). This one is slightly better but for a completely pristine looking record like this one to still have so much surface noise after several cleans is disappointing... it's probably GZ's lack of quality control striking yet again (sadly very familiar from my experience with GZ pressings for VMP). Think this one might have to go back as well :(
Side C is fine on this one though. And when there isn't oppressive noise destroying the mix it really is a delight to listen to. - Edited 2 years agoHad to return due to excessive surface noise. It sounded like low quality bootleg vinyl in a lot of places. Otherwise sounded good, although as with digital master the bass seems a bit excessive.
Ordered a US press from elsewhere and am having same issue there. I see that release was pressed at GZ, so kinda makes sense. I wonder if Euro release was too. - My copy has a bit of surface noise, although I’d attribute to my brush not getting all of the dust. Overall, I think this is a really great sounding pressing.
- This pressing has exaggerated mids and bass, making the record sound boomy and drowning the delicate treble in the tracks. It sounds very different to the digital version, and in my opinion sounds worse.
