Hybrid ‎– Morning Sci-Fi

Hybrid have really done their stuff here. A real nice collection of Downtempo music and Progressive House. The lyrical talent of Adam Taylor on this release are really nice (compared to the usual female vocals used), especially on tracks such as "I'm Still Awake", "True To Form" and "Out Of The Dark". Restricting themselves to not making an overloaded album of noises and repetitive sounds, they have made the album simple and effective. The bonus DVD is an extra goody containing some excellent bonus material about touring with Moby and the work behind "Morning Sci-Fi". For me, this is a definately good abum released from Hybrid.

Hybrid no doubt has mastered the dark breaks on their second album, SCI-FI MORNING. But here, rather than storming clubland, they also seem to be reaching for crossover status with some indie-emo-rock vocals here and there. And, generally, the vocals work (though the lyrics can get overblown at times, but, hey, what's rock music without bombast?). "True to Form" is appealingly dark, even before the thundering beats come in. And with Peter Hook's trademark bass, the track sounds eerily close to a New Order track. "Marrakech" has little of the Middle Eastern influence that you'd expect and instead opts for stomach-rattling bass, and "I'm Still Awake" and "Steal You Away" both scream for alternative radio to pay attention. But "Visible Noise" simply rocks harder than either. "Gravastar" shows off their talent for pure electronic dance music, more than the good-but-not-great "Out of the Dark." Kirsty Hawkshaw lends her piercing vocals to "Blackout," but it's clear where the Hybrid boys' strengths are. You can hear it pounding in your head for days afterwards.

Hybrid.. one of the best groups.. and it did not let me down once again. their new album is something that everyone should buy!! their music is so gentle to your ears that u want to keep listening to it over and over again! great work! keep on like that hybrids :)

No matter what anyone says, Hybrid is an amazing group and they did not let me down with their new album. Simply Amazing. You must listen as I can not put into words what they have done on their album. Also for those who already have it, their is a hidden bonus track on the cd. Just goto the first track and rewind it, you'll see it start going into the negative numbers. It starts somewhere around -6:07 or somewhere around there. I don't think you can do this in a computer CD player, so you'll have to use a standalone.

When it comes down to releasing your Sophmore album, there is always that fear of falling into a "Sophmore Slump". Chris Healings and Mike Truman have escaped that pit fall by reconstructing the Hybrid sound almost entirely. Lee Mullins is out and a Adam Talyor is in, along with John Creamer (Creamer & K), Kirsty Hawkshaw (BT/Swayzak), Peter Hook (New Order) and the result is breath taking. Creating a emotional soundscape for Adam's
Doves/Elbow esqe vocals to ride on, "True To Form" (next single to be released Sept 1st) flys high. The album floats into the deep and unknown while balancing it out with cuts of nasty breakbeat mayhem. a unexplected, phenomenal album.
