In a previous incarnation as Galaxie 500, the band was rated not only the worst band ever musically, but as one of the worst looking bands during their early years of touring. “Bewitched” is often overlooked, if not an afterthought for most Luna fans ... though the funny thing is, “Bewitched” is a really bright, refreshing, and historic album for these folks. Luna found themselves asked to be the opening act for the reformed Velvet Underground tour, with the Velvet’s guitarist Sterling Morrison being heard on several of the tracks, and is responsible for the solo on the song “Friendly Advice.” Seems they were now walking arm and arm with the biggest cult band of all time ...
I've been waiting my entire life for Luna, the songs from Bewitched are dreamy, floating me in a neo-psychedelic river of sound. And all of this is from a group who just want to let their guard down, and present some genuinely unique material from a child's point of view. It’s nearly impossible to criticize something so pure, warm and from the heart.
On the surface, the music of Luna sounds simple, but it is anything but simple, the layering of guitars, the building, the texturing and relationships of one sound playing off of another is nothing short of genus. Seldom does art meet music the way it does here, everything is accessible, yet somehow just out of reach ... and that’s what keeps drawing me back for more. Of course it may be only Dean’s voice, or the ability the band has to phrase their inner thoughts that holds my attention ... but I think not, I think it’s the completeness, the effortless quality and magic.

With Luna I'm home, safe and warm and home ...
