are you sure this is the original from 1986, not the reissue for Europe from 1995?

Best LP of 1986. Rick Rubin took Hip-Hop to the next level, production-wise, and drove the entire state of Florida bonkers with the 808.

Note on the artwork of the beyond-classic first hip-hop LP by the boys: the plane's serial number says EATME when seen in a mirror. They continued to have great gatefold artwork on later records-that's why the vinyl is cool beyond the warm sound. Mike D rocks the VW medallion on the inner gatefold. Track down the tour book from this era for some very cool photos.

Highlights here are first 3 tracks, plus No Sleep 'til Brooklyn and Time to Get Ill. Extensive use of sampling before everyone and his mother was doing it. Rhymin' & Stealin' sampled Led Zeppelin, as did She's Crafty. Time to Get Ill sampled Creedence Clearwater Revival of all artists. A talking horse also features! Posse in Effect is reminiscent of the Street Sounds Electro sound. Licensed to Ill is widely regarded as a rap classic. Some might refer to it as Old-School, but it isn't really.

This was repressed in 2000 and was in limited quantity. All these releases have stickers on them with the number of the pressing on it.
