This album has it all...

A nice start to the CD with two beatiful Ambient tracks, then the beats start coming in. We are given some calm beats first in the form of "No Ordinary Morning". Then, everybody's favourite "Saltwater" turns the calm ambience up a notch into a nice Dream Trance anthem.

Soon after, we're taken into a harder progressive style with "Halcyon" but "Autumn Tactics" and "Overlap" cool us off shortly before returning to the House-zone with "Don't Give Up".

We are then taken back to into dream-world with the Thrillseekers Remix of "Saltwater" before finishing with what I would describe as Dream House.

All the tracks are excellent in their own way and what makes the CD even better is the positions the songs are placed in.

A sensational album.

It doesn't connect to me as much as it used to, when I favored the upbeat pop-trance style. It's an electronic album for those who don't listen to electronic music. For those who listen to Coldplay or something similar, this kind of music is very accessible. This album was one of my first forays into EDM.

'Behind The Sun' is an album of breathtaking beauty, with its ten tracks transporting the listener along on a dream-like musical journey. Album opener 'Overture' is a gentle, glistening, atmospheric masterpiece, which is followed by the exquisite 'Low Sun' (with its distinctive percussion and sublime guitar part) and the heartfelt 'No Ordinary Morning'. Tracks such as the epic 'Halycon', 'Saltwater Original' and 'Don't Give Up' fuse the ambient qualities of the other tracks with an injection of percussive urgency, but the album is arguably at its strongest when it seeks to project its musical representation of a picturesque beach at sunset, or frothy waves gently breaking against the shore. 'Behind The Sun' is music of high quality that needs to be played uninterrupted from start to finish to be fully appreciated, and is a timeless album that you will come back to over and over again.

Chicane tracks from this album made me love electronic music. Actually they were first electronic tracks I've ever heard. But now, when I listened to many and many trance albums, I still love this one. Because it's pure, it's beautiful. It's the real chill out album.

Highlights: No Ordinary Morning, Saltwater (both Original and Thrillseekers version - all-time track!), Halcyon, Autumn Tactics (truly autumn track), Andromeda ("Uuh" sample that appears sometimes is very nice).

Good album for night drive after big party.

I picked this excellent album up after hearing "Saltwater" on a compilation album. I instantly fell in love with this gorgeous number, and had to hear more of Chicane. While this is trance through and through, the mood is considerably more somber than your average trance release, with softer beats, and more understated melody than screaming synth lines.

Although "Saltwater" is the easy highlight of the whole album, I was surprised to find several other high quality tunes on here as well. "Low Sun" and "Autumn Tactics" are both stunning down-tempo tunes (the latter of which features a chilling melancholy female vocal that sends shivers down my spine), while "Halcyon" turns up the tempo a bit and draws you in with simple, irresistible melodic hooks. Elsewhere, things are a little more average. "No Ordinary Morning" and "Overlap" never really caught my attention, and the other big hit, "Don't Give Up" featuring Bryan Adams on vocals, is too cheesy for me to enjoy. Don't let this discourage you though! This is a great album that most anyone can find something within that they like.
