I got a miss pressing of this record, There is some sort of 'extra label' on the B side like this:

does anyone else have this?

Not very impressed with the quality of this at all, packaging is great and the LP looks fine but when you play it, music wise it just sounds off somehow, doesn't seem as clear like its missing a little bit of detail, a bit muddy maybe, this is my first dealings with a bootleg though so don't really know if this is the norm for bootlegs, also don't have the original LP to compare to, just the CD, it was still ok but I just listened to this feeling disappointed.

Being a collector, I love the "new" artwork! Has anybody info on how many were pressed?

This is the definitive version of Queens Of The Stone Age's self titled release just barely eclipsing the Domino Records version.

This Ipecac version was to be the standard release of this reissue and at the last hour, Rekords Rekords switched to Domino.

Domino were having trouble in the US meeting the release date which was pushed back twice, Ipecac had already completed the production process and so the LP was used at gigs and some record stores in order to fulfil "immediate" demand.

The album inner has a few typos, most notably the lyric sheet, where the title for "These Aren't The Droids..." is placed halfway through the lyrics for the preceding track. The spin text is also printed upside down.

Domino fulfilled early web orders with this version, some reportedly with Domino stickers of over the Ipecac references. Domino claim in an email that the Domino and Ipecac versions were identical and came from the same master. master tapes maybe, but not the same cut. When checking both releases they have different runout etchings particular to the label they were appearing on, the Ipecac is slightly thicker and heavier with a visibly different groove cut, the edges of the record itself are not tapered like the Domino UK pressing. These factors indicate a different acetates were used were used for each pressing which would make sense.

Upon listening to them side by side, the Domino version is slightly subdued (in comparison - it's actually a great pressing in its own right) and not as vibrant, dynamic or immediate as the Ipecac Pressing. As the Ipecac has been mastered slightly louder, some "print through" is evident but not enough to spoil things. The Domino pressing is also exceptional but this version just pips it, the differences are noticeable but not so great that I'd avoid the domino release. The cut for the Ipecac pressing seems slightly richer, more defined and detailed.

The LP comes with a voucher code to download the music on MP3 format which is great, the Domnino release also did this, they included a generic Domino branded card with a unique code to download the mp3 or wavs from their website. The Ipecac Card is credit card sized and plastic with great album specific artwork and a unique code and what appears to be some sort of separate serial number. This is a nice little touch.

The Ipecac sleeve is pressed on nice thick card with a glossy finish, the inners are thin paper and prone to split, where the domino release has a thin card sleeve with a matt finish where the inners are made of a durable card and do not contain the typos mentioned earlier. The text on the spine is also the correct way up on the Domino pressing.

I personally prefer the Ipecac pressing. A thicker vinyl, slightly better cut, glossy thick card sleeve outweigh the negatives of a messed up lyric sheet and paper inners. If you can track down a copy of the Ipecac version for a good price I'd highly recommend it.

I just purchased the CD version (in Canada) and it does seem that RR is selling the IPC124 copies but with a slipcover that has a different barcode and censored cover image and REK001 cat#.
the disc case has 68923001242 barcode
the slipcase has 801391800121 barcode

A note on this being an unreleased/aborted pressing. I bought the vinyl version in my local record store today and it seems to be the version they're selling in USA stores. There was a barcode sticker over the printed barcode, but it's clearly the Ipecac pressing with no mention of Domino Records. It has the Ipecac catalog number. The CD version comes in a jewel case with a slip cover over it with a censored cover. That cover doesn't mention Ipecac at all and has the Domino Records logo, but the spine has the Ipecac catalog number, so I'm guessing they're just getting rid of all the old copies they pressed before switching labels for whatever reason.

Not sure why its listed as unofficial release, I bought my copy from the band during their 1st tour. Blue vinyl & has never been played. Quite a prized possession in my collection.
