The second single taken from Blur's sophomore album "Modern Life Is Rubbish". This song was not originally written for the album, but was only penned by Damon Albarn at the insistence of Blur's U.S. record company, SBK Records, who did not think there was a good single for the U.S. market on the album. Food Records had already made Damon write the additional song "For Tomorrow" over the Christmas holiday in 1992, so that left him rather angry at being coerced into writing yet another song for an album the group considered finished. Luckily, however, he came up with the excellent song "Chemical World" under pressure.
