Frank Zappa – You Are What You Is

In “Jumbo Go Away”, right before Frank says, “Are growing on you,” does anybody else notice a slight volume swell? Confirms my suspicion that the master probably didn’t escape all that overdubbing without some errors. For what it’s worth, you can’t hear it on the EMI CD, but the equalization was a lot flatter there.

I simply love the mastering of this reissue. The original CD release plus subsequent reissues had an edited version of “Dumb All Over” without the full 6 minute fade out of guitar solo. Sounded very compressed. This one is very open and is mastered from the original analog tapes.

This is one of the "bad ones" with wobbly stereo image and brittle sound.

Very bad sound on this pressing. Go with the 2012 release.

I love "You Are What You Is". Just about every song is great. Both disks of my pressing play like new.

I don’t have time right now to fix this cos there’s a lot to do. (But I will later)The track list is all wrong as is the description in the notes that the misprint is on the sleeve . The record is auto coupled with side 1 and 4 on one record and 2 and 3 on the other. The only misprint is the record side (not the titles)on the labels , with ‘’side 2’’ written on side 4 and side 3 written on side 2 and side 4 written on side 3.

As a brilliant observer of American Lifestile, Zappa resurrects the Mothers Of Invention era. The music and the lyrics come in such a density that it does not immediately strike you. But this album shows Zappa in absolute high form, as composer, musician, guitarist, as well as arranger. Listen to the Connehead solo, listen to the accompaniment! One of my favorite solos. Absolutely five stars *****

I don´t think there is a leaflet included originaly at this Version. I can tell, because i am 1st Owner.
