Reviews
- Impressive sounding '82 reissue with sides 3 &, 4 cut by a young Kevin Gray. Side 1 & 2 sound great as well.
- I’m hard pushed to notice any difference between this and original Track UK vinyl :), well done all involved.
- Having both the UK first press and a 200g CLASSIC RECORDS I was buying the latest version out of sheer curiosity.
And I was not disappointed!
This version is loud and captures the bass, drums, vocals and guitar in a very different way to my other versions. It can be shrill at times but it sure has a LOT of energy. It’s almost “reimagined” compared to the CLASSIC. a totally different experience. - I think this sounds rather good save and except side 4. The bass becomes muddy and lost on side 4, although piano, synths, sound effects, and guitars all come across very well. Sides 1, 2, and 3 are done very well, and there is a great deal of vocal detail revealed that was somehow lost in earlier pressings (particularly Keith's vocals in Bellboy). My copy played through very well from start to finish, and it arrived clean, flat, and well centered. I haven't actually listened to all of the other Who ARHS remasters yet, but this one seems to be a worthwhile effort worth the $50 purchase price.
- Edited one month agoSo honestly the sound on this set is disappointing which is shocking. I have picked up the other Who half speeds in the series and have loved them all. But this one doesn’t stack up to the original at all, lacking the bass and umph of the original and really kinda shrill high end. Compressed sound lacking the wide dynamics of the original. Was excited to get this one but was let down. If you want the best sound quality find a clean UK 1st pressing and be prepared to be blown away.
- It sounds...... ok?
2 copies both with identical groove defects on side C... non fills. The second being warped, just to rub it in. Optimal just love messing up the Half Speed masters.... T4F The Hurting. Who's Next. Tubular Bells 50th. Roxy Music reissues etc. Effing non fills almost all the time.
For the silly asking price, a profound disappointment from the middling sound to the defective vinyl and the packaging which is as low rent as can be made. At the asking price it HAS to deliver on all fronts and it sadly doesnt. - I am very happy with my copy, but I have no comparison material, at least it does not sound bad at all.
- Cash grab if you have it, public service if you don't. Purchase if you don't have a copy or need a fresh one. Two indicators for me are the come on and the baa at the beginning of side two. Come on is heard but not clearly and not with a lot of depth...Baa not present... Overall a good copy but there are better ones out there if you're lucky enough to find one that plays nicely.
Once again public service if you don't have it cash grab if you do - Edited one month agoSounds great really.
Not sure what others are looking for in this.
But this is Dynamic and loud.
Great quality pressings thats flat and weighty
I think people are looking for the magical pressing that doesnt exist because this was recorded in 1973 and is a product of its time.
The drums sound fine and not muddy. I can hear clearly everything going.
