Groove Armada ‎– Northern Star

Groove Armada’s first album, Northern Star, is one of their stronger ones, if not the strongest. Technically, it’s not as clean as their later albums, but it’s got such a powerful feeling of soul that it’s hard to say no to it. The first three tracks alone, “Dr. Eiff,” “Captain Sensual,” and “Entrance to Zanzibar,” would be worth the price of the album alone, but the grooves keep coming… much like an armada, as a matter of fact. “Dirty Listening” is smooth funk, while “Dan-Solo” goes for more street-wise funk. “Pillar 13” is the ballad of surburbia, while the final, short track “Bonus Stitch 1 & 2” keeps a smile on your face. A completely charming and accomplished album.
