TIP continues their excellent Mystery of the 13 Crystal Skulls in admirable form here with the 12" sampler of The Secret of the Thirteen Crystal Skulls comp. 1200 Mics offers another strong track from the GMS camp that starts of ethnic and slow and works up into a great frenzy. A great dance floor track, its several time changes also make it a great track to leave the to the next dj to mix out of if you happen to not be on the best of terms with him.
Talamasca's offereing here somehow doesn't seem as powerful with in the flow of the comp, yet on its own and in a dj set, it really comes into its own as a dance floor monster. Its hard to say what makes it so good as in many ways it is very simple and upon analysis should be boring. Yet the bass storms and the leads rip and tear and sooth and soar and the whole thing equals about the only track that came out in 2002 that I got really really excited about and remain excited about today in 2004.
