Wait a second now: just where the hell did this one come from?!?!
It seems like it slipped under everyones radar! Undeservably so.
While I will openly admit of being tired of the whole uninspired and samey tech house/minimal thing, Wassermusik more than adequately covers the all well too known territory, but captivating my attention from the kick off note down to the closing beat.
Yes, it has all been done and heard before, but I dont think Ive heard it done this well since Hawtin made the entire niche of minimal seem pointless with his colossal DE9 | Transitions some years ago. Meerestief has had a few great releases and hits on recent clubbing scene, but this is by far the best release by them up to now. It sums up everything the label is about, and well, displays just why did I get caught up in all the minimal hype back in the day!
A fantastic blend of groove, warmth melody, bleeps & blops, tracks similar in texture, but very intriguing and likeable.
There is no filler here, and I mean it, this is stuff I need to reignite my interest for this music, and I heavily recommend it to anyone who thinks there is no more hope or quality within this style, as well as to those looking for a place to start, and to all those who just want to purchase top of the line electronic music, which wont alter your comprehension of music, but will provide pure enjoyment, and at the end of the day, that is what it should all be about.
Minimal may still be the answer. Highly recommended.
