Jah Wobble provides us with what sounds like a soundtrack to the Jungle Book for adolescents (terrible). Then there are the ambient pioneers with none of their standout compositions. Kate St. Johns Notti Senza Amore is okay, but it took a while for me to fully understand Biospheres Sphere-of-no-form.
I always fall for these songs that really catch you in the last 5 ~ 10% of the whole. It is only a steamboat roaring along for some 3 minutes which is very haunting and disturbing because of the discord in the orchestrated pads that nurse it. Then, like the sunshine after a thunderstorm, the chords become harmony. The problem is being able to endure the pain, as one of my listeners when I played it over the radio, expressly voiced her opinion to change the song just before the harmony was supposed to set in. What a pity.
