A lot has been said about this album already, but please allow me to share my review too – also because my opinion goes against all rave reviews this album has received.

This album is acclaimed to be the best psychedelic-trance album ever and is generally agreed that when released in mid-1997 the scene had reached its peak; after which it started to dwindle. I must say however that (unlike most) I don’t consider this as the best trance album ever. I think all tracks sound a bit samey and probably is that kind of album where each track would have more impact if heard separately on a compilation rather than listening all tracks consecutively on the album. This excluding the last chill-out track which is constructed differently. Production is also poor, at least on my Dragonfly copy. I prefer much more there 1999 album “Family of Light” where I find a lot more variation. Once again my opinion is against all odds since a lot say that FoL comes light-years behind I.F.O.

My favourite on I.F.O. is “Taygeta”.

Today this album is one of the most difficult to get for the reason that most are not willing to trade it. In auctions it still fetches 100 plus Euro. Considering it’s scarcity and that production and mastering leave a lot to desire this is the perfect example of an album that ought to be re-released re-mastered.
