LTJ Bukem - Demon's Theme / A Couple Of Beats

Demons Theme is quite an over rated track. Its nice however it just doesnt quite capture the vibe of its time. Its akin to Pappa Nu Guinna by FSOL in that its trying to break free from the sound of the time and in doing so it sounds
really out of place when played in a set with its contemporaries. I would have to agree that Demons Theme was well ahead of its time. The sound of Demons Theme didnt catch on till about 2 years later where many producers were
cloning this sound.

For me this release is all about A Couple of Beats which is a very nice track. In particular, the intro is what really grabs me as its this really hard driving jungle tekno beat backed by 4/4 909 beats and chopped up amen drum hits
playing at an incredible fast pace. The track breaks down into a nice euphoric cord followed by a female vocal saying "Hey yeah yeaaaah ehh yeah" where after which the track goes into a groovy amen break, then followed by interesting Detroit style techno cords. The track never returns to the frantic jungle tekno loop with the choppy amens, I think thats its only downfall other then the fact
that I wish the flip side was a happier remix of A Couple of Beats with tasteful uplifting pianos and chipmunks. Perhaps Danny should have had DJ Seduction remix this, it wouldnt have hurt. Even still, this track is great.
Much better then Demons Theme.
