Eleven tracks from one of ANTLER-SUBWAY's longest standing EBM groups, showing them capable of subtlety and harmonic composition, as well as the white hot dance music they are capable of. "Flesh - Koen Tillie Mix" opens the album - a constant irresistable flowing piece of Electronic music with just enough going on to keep your ears happy while your body 'does it's thing'. "Crash Course In Seduction - Industrial Mix" has vocals flowing along with the pulsating, repetitive music - its light dance stuff with bite. It has a slightly disquieting sound, not chilling exactly, just the merest hint of menace. "Cold War In The Brainbox - Collosseum Mix" follows on a fairly minimal beat with subtle keyboards and effects fed over the top. The vocals don't actually enter the arena until at least 2 minutes into the track. "Close Combat / Muscle Machine - Double Beat Dub Mix" has a dark and determined beat over which all manner of sounds are sketched. Vocals are consigned to the distance and are used minimally, almost as punctuation. "The Parallax View - Warp Mix" comes next, with a deep and velvetty bassline and skipping synth rhythm. It has a limited amount of sounds, but they are put together in a complex, ever-changing way. This one has catchy lyrics reminding me of PETE MURPHY over a brooding disco structure. "Rigor Mortis - Transient Straight Mix" comes next - the first of two mixes of this track - and has a bright, refreshing flavour, like freshly polished chrome transformed into medium-paced rhythmic sound. "Drinking Sand - Laid Back Mix" follows with a Reggae flavour hidden away inside the mix. This might well do well in your local Dance Hall, and could stand a good chance of charting, if it were given a healthy chance. The female vocalist has a beautiful harmonic voice which carries the track along in a warm and comfortable dream state. "Firewalker - Beatless mix" is the first of two non-beat things on the album. It reminds me a little of something by the COCTEAU TWINS crossed with TANGERINE DREAM & JEAN MICHEL JARRE. It may not have beat, but it has an ephemeral rhythm of trickling sequencers and keyboards. It's followed by the breathtakingly lovely "Takin' In - Concerto" with dreamy piano rippling over a beautiful soundscape which has an edge that suggests sadness. Next comes another version of "Rigor Mortis" - this time the "Manc Mix" - with some wild and savage guitar sounds right out of the hardest 'n' heaviest of the Manchester Neo-Hippy records. As such it has a much more commercial edge, although I doubt it would make a successful single. The vocalist sounds like a cross between ADI NEWTON & IAN CURTIS on this track. Its good dance stuff which moves on an irresistable pulse. The album closes with the second version of "Cold War In The Brainbox" - this one being subtitled "Cut Up"!!! It has some reverse effects and some odd effects. The mix is rather different - quite hard and cold, despite the witty slices of voice which bob up now and again.

As you might expect from ANTLER-SUBWAY, a damn good Electronic Body Dance album, with one or two unusual surprises - the two non-beat tracks seem to break the mould, but give the album an extra edge and a couple more house points.
