On the contrary, I'd say this hardly reflects the sound of Platipus. Positives include that it is well produced, has several acidic tracks, and still maintains some tranciness. Negatives include a clear cut influence by epic trance - there are several tracks that start dark, like Teeth of the Jungle, and end up very epic trance like. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing, as all of the tracks sound great, and despite it having that dramatic sound at times, its good music. I'm not going to say a track is poor just because its very epic trance styled, when it actually sounds quite good.
But, if you're looking for the dark early platipus sound, this album isn't a good idea. It has traces of it, but for the most part its mixed in with happier melodies. I was expecting that sound, but was instead greeted with a very epic sound. It's not something that I really want to listen to again, but I can't say I wasted the 70 minutes I took to listen to this, either.
