Portamento is not just the best track Boris Blenn ever made but in my humble opinion one of the best Goa tacks ever written. The vocal sample in the middle of the second melodic breakdown is one of the most memorable climaxes I have heard. Luckily this track is available on the super compilation Pulse 1 because Portamento aside I can’t praise the rest of much of the album though.

First this is an album which I can’t decide if filing under dance or chillout. Except Portamento, JD-Distortion and Adic 3 the tracks have a soft 4/4 beat, with Longbaceglider On Solstice being breakbeat. The tracks are very simplistic in structure even when considering they are from the now remote 1995 and are generally repetitive and don't seem to evolve much, except Portamento. In my opinion this album is more on the chill side than the dance side but if you want psychedelic chillout from 1995 it’s probably not the sort of relaxed music you are looking for. I would rather call this a “trippy” album since I guess under the right conditions it works marvel; but, since the structure and tempo of each consecutive track varies considerably, I think the tracks are more effective if heard separately rather than taking the whole album at one go.

An inevitable mention goes to the famous CD bonus track Source of Emotion. A tasty bonanza I’d say, since this track is indeed a gem. The mid-tempo 4/4 beat combined with its ambience and 20+ minutes length is easily the best track within this category. If you haven’t yet noticed this track appears in full on Pro Cannabis 3 so if you want to have this track that compilation can be easily bought for Source of Emotion alone.

How Paradise Connection is labeled as one of the essentials of 1995 I fail to understand. Even more the insane prices people pay for it. I’m not a fan and don’t consider it essential either but if you ask me Boris’ album One Love is much better. Portamento and Source of Emotion aside I find all tracks way too simplistic and shallow.

This is one of the best psychedelic trance albums one can buy. Some here mention that it is worht buying because of one or another track, but all tracks are very good and unique. It is better than most trance albums one can buy, because it is done with quality synths like the Roland JP 8000 and one can hear Boris Blenns skills as a musician aswell. Great rythms, great melodies and beautiful stringlines like the one of source of emotion or 111 Beltress. Longbacegilder On solstice is not as intense and fresh sounding as the others but still a good track. If one looks for darker and more melodies Boris Blenn, than Stardiver is the right choose, One Love is also very good, tough.

This album is worth it for one track alone. The rest of the album is just a bonus.
Portamento is one of those tracks that sends shivers down your spine and never fails to wow.
I am listening as I type this and still find it weird that this track is 15 years old.

The last track, "Source of emotion", is probably the trippiest track you'll ever hear! It's a 20 minute+ slow, slow 4x4 ambient-trance tune with some of the most beautiful and spaced-out melodies there is. Some of you might find this masterpiece monotone and repetitive, but I'd rather call it hypnotic and dreamy. Oh, that bassline is just to die for... and those 303's...
If this sounds like something for you, then buy this (if possible, which I think it's not, tragically) without hesitation!
