From sleeve: "Get ready to sizzle as Italy's Spiller spices up the summer of 1999 with a festive rendition of the classic Brazilian song "Batucada". The fire of pounding Latin rhythms and a retro-vocal as cool as coastal waters create a vibrant party vibe touched with retro-chic. All that's missing are the caipirinhas and churrasco. Beat the heat... pour yourself an earful of Summer refreshment with the exotic flavors of Spiller."

A surprizing release on the Twisted Label, usually into hard/circuit House. "Batucada", a well known Latin anthem, is handled here by Spiller (his second release after the hypnotic "Spiller From Rio" under the name "Laguna"). On the artistic side, the art used for the sleeve reminds me a lot the covers of some Deee-Lite releases in the 90's (made by penciller Michael Economy). On the music side, all the mixes are working very well. The Elusive Samba mixes are retro flavoured, with lots of percussions. The BMR Ruffclub is more on the House tip, courtesy of Boris Dlugosch and Michi Lange. The melody and vocals are re-arranged in a inventive way. The Sounds Of Life remix is more like a dub, reconstructed with catchy Disco samples. A fun driven, beach record "Batucada" is. Don't forget your towels and sunglasses!
