BRAVO, the first full-length from Sascha Funke, combines an appreciation of the dance aspects of techno with forward-thinking sonics (with a good helping of fun, just in case). The opening track, “Now You Know,” sets the stage with head-nodding tech-house. “Strassentanz” glides on an electric fuzz right into your head, while the title track thumps its way into your shoes. The slow and romantic “3:1 Fur Die Liebe” show off Funke’s sensitive side, but it should come as no surprise: touches like the midpoint change in “Twingo” that demonstrate an attention to tone, melody and texture that elevates this album above others.
