Personally I'm not mad about this "full" cover version, but it's a must-own for the acapella. Cuba Gooding is re-singing the vocal that he originally recorded for the earlier Main Ingredient version of this tune. The original composition, as well as Cuba's delivery, is so strong and timeless that this record stands out even as a pure acapella! But G*d help the DJ who tries to "ride" the acapella with the original in real-time...you'll need a lot of help in the digital domain to accomplish that.

Samples from this song appear in several dance and rave tunes in the 90's.
Nightmares on Wax were obviously big fans - they used it for the rave classic "Aftermath", which was subsequently re-sampled by many on the rave scene, and then later for the funky house track "Happiness"

After leaving the Motown label in 1983, this was Cuba Gooding's first release on Streetwise Records.
"Happiness Is Just Around The Bend" is actually a remake of the Main Ingredient tune from 1974.
