Extremely well produced, with razor sharp effects, kicks, snares and reverbs cutting to the chase and offering straight forward, no nonsense techno.
Sjab, the A side, kind of throws you right in the middle of it, as it takes no time to build but hits you right off from the start, only to reach a break around the four minute mark and then climax seconds before six minutes into the track. Some very cool drum patterns throughout and a very hard and driving feel make Sjab a wonderful DJ tool. Stands well on its own too, unlike many other Collabs releases, namely the ones with Chris Liebing.
On the flip side, we have Basj, which patiently builds and rewards the listeners with the first eruption of sonic energy somewhere after the first minute is through, but the real treat is the second part of the track, which follows after an obbligatory build up, around the 04:20 mark. What follows needs not much words, youve heard it all before, but hell, I guess the good stuff never gets tiresome.
All in all, nothing that new or of unprecedented value or historical importance. But two great party stompers nonetheless, which unlike many of the kind can be listened to front to back, especially if youre keen on harder aspects of the techno genre. Faint hearted individuals may look elsewhere, party goersll dig this. 4/5.
