Reviews & Discussion

Nearly 20 years on and this track is still an essential Techno tune. We are of course, talking about "Energy Flash". To think this came from the mind of a 19 year old too.

This is a very impressive track that still sounds fresh today. I'm surprised this hasnt been bootlegged, but then, how do you top Beltrams masterpiece? It's actually quite nice to see the respect producers have for the track and wont touch it.

R & S definately saw the future with this one, it's visionaries like this that keep techno/dance/electronica exciting, even if no one understands them at the time. R & S, you are missed.

according to an interview with joey in german techno mag groove, issue 90, this record was actually to be released on the nu groove-label. guess this would´ve made it much harder to get nowadays. anyway, joey was touring europe with derrick may in 1990 and paid a visit to the r&s headquarters, played a demo of this track and both renaat and derrick licensed it on the spot. according to him joey wasn't even aware til that day that this music was called "techno".

"energy flash" summons what Techno is all about - simple , but effective 4/4 beats and loud shouts for E ;-). if ever there is or was an anthem 4 all dancefloors 2 unite , you should pick this classic track..
