The quintessential Downwards album. Lots of punishing techno here, pounding loops that reveal subtle little melodies and changes after repeated listening. There is a lot going on in the background that is not immediately obvious. Sounds rhythmically weave in and out of the loops, oscillating, growing louder, quiet. This is techno of the highest order. It is hard, loopy techno, but it is MORE than that, there is a complexity and beauty in the raging monster tracks. Interesting percussion patterns and loads of compressed sounds, Karl O' Connor and David Sumner, both giants of dark, hard techno with industrial elements teaming up to kick a dancefloor square in the ass. And as usual the track titles are a hoot.
