fits in every mix, still works on any floor, and it's very strange in terms of:
contrary to it's title and record cover, i just can't hear NO 808, but a DMX with the same sounds wreckin'cru (world class), arabian prince(let's hit the beach), pet shop boys(opportunities) and dozens of other 80's artists used...most famous is it's fantastic backwards-handclap and unknowns archetypical rap ....and thx 2 djinsomnia for typing in the lyrics...there were a few words i never really got right when hearing it (LOL!)
This is definately one of the best Old-Skool Electro tunes ever made. 808 beats riddled with Kraftwerk and about a dozen other samples. A timeless classic; simply brilliant!
This is definately one of my favourite old skool electro/hiphop tracks... Unfortunately I only recently heard this track a few years ago on Dave Clarke - Electro Boogie Volume 2!
I wish I knew about all this stuff much earlier...
I love it so much I had to type up the lyrics, this guy really knows how to throw down a rhyme. :)
The way that the voice is filtered or vocoded sounds great as well. It's really catchy.
"Beat by beat baby, rhyme by rhyme
My body’s shaking, body’s aching, just to make you mine
So as you dance to my music and your body will sweat
Here are the words you should never forget
I am the prince of desire, the King of your dreams
And there will never be another in your life like me
Cause I’m so tall, dark and handsome and claiming to be
The hardest lover undercover of the M.I.C.
From New York to London, from Watts to Rome
My beat is thumping, feet are jumping for DJ Unknown
Computerized musician with the futuristic beat
The bass in your face, the chord’s so unique
I am the music of the future, the sound of the street
Chosen me the supersceder of the untrod beat
Though the music’s devastating it was simple to create
Cause I am the master of the 808........so be there!"
