As the essay states on the inner-sleeve "I decided to make a simple, straightfoward dance record" which is what this exactly is, nothing more...it's a nice record for people who are already familiar with Moby's music, but for anyone who enjoys "underground" dance music strictly, and isn't familiar with Moby's earlier 89-93 work, I would not start here...instead, I would start there.

To be honest I felt his last Voodoo Child record (The End Of Everything) was a better album...He seems 2 b targeting that "underground dance-music" audience more with "Baby Monkey"...but unfortunetly "Baby Monkey" does not hold up to those standards...but despite this, there are some really good momements here (Gotta Be Loose In Your Mind, Last, Take It Home, Harpie, and Obscure) and then there are the strange moments (Light In Your Eyes, Electronics, Uhh Yeah) instead of sounding fresh, the last few tracks I mentioned sounds a bit dated, and rush-recorded, it just didn't sound like Moby put all of his mind to them...at times it does sound as if he is trying 2 capture a 'retro' sound in these tracks, but he doesn't make an improvement on it...I give the album more credit for having really nice sleeve art to accompany the CD rather.

Still it is a good record overall, but not at all perfect...but maybe this could mark a new beginning for Moby perhaps? Maybe he would have a desire to return to electronic music genre entirely after this?? Who knows.
