Write a ReviewDarkSouljah, Apr 17, 2005
Even though Mechanical Animals was blatantly overdone glam, and everything after Holy Wood has been weak and mundane, Warner struck it right with this release. And even though the singles were nothing special, if one delves deeper into this twisted symphony, it's easy to find the good.
This was a strange time for Warner it seems. There's novel recurring themes, including celebrityhood (done with a different approach than found on MA), the assassination of JFK, and other presidents also. Furthermore, the anti-christianity and morbidity of Antichrist Superstar returns for this release, and makes for a much grittier slab of music, which shows in the video for "The Nobodies."
Though not as original as POAAF & AS, Holy Wood is still quite amazing. Yet if one expects to find brilliance in this release, they must look beyond "The Fight Song" & "Disposible Teens" in order to truly appreciate this Manson album.
