Reviews & Discussion

Rated 5/5

The remixes are fine, but the original is far and away the best. Dark, pulsing bassline that gradually gives way to a creepy low key trancey riff, before storming back again - brilliant. One of the things I love about this track is that it's in no hurry - the bass-driven intro throbs along for a full 3 minutes before that sinister break and melody kick in, and though that may sound excessive, it's actually just right.

Also, if you like 'Wasteland' check out KP's other dark stomper 'Cryptomnesia'. Both excellent trance tracks that expertly straddle the line between progressive and melodic, bringing the best of both styles to the table.

(PS. This could only be described as 'cheesy' by the most hardcore technoheads who can't appreciate even the subtlest of melodies)

**UPDATE** As someone quite rightly pointed out, I neglected to give proper respect to the Chab remix, which is an outstanding production catering more to the progressive house stable (although would not be out of place on a trance album either).

Three good mixes in their own right, Chab's mix is storming progressive, the original is a thudding riffed trancer while Hitchhiker does the melodic euro tip.

Forget the "Original" and the "Hitchhiker Remix", they are too cheesey! No, it's Chab's version that rocks, you really get Bedrock (Records) feel here. Progressive House with a touch of Trance. The sound is so dark and it's Chab's remix that takes the track all the way to cool darkness; wastelands, jep you bet.
Can't rate it better than 3/5 because of the two B-sides!
