Repetitive loops and dirty crackling static are the backbone of this project. If you like early releases on the Chain Reaction label, Basic Channel, or the minimal works of Plastikman, you should definitely check out this Recon release. The good: cold, rich, and dirty minimal tech. The bad: possibly a sampling rip-off of some Chain Reaction artists... When heard the samples broken down in the "White Label Deconstruction" mp3 release, I recognized a lot of the samples (like LITERAL pieces from Fluxion, Basic Channel, etc.)... once I heard the pieces broken down I can now recognize some in the complete Recon "white label" work. Certainly it could be a DJs take or "arranged and processed" piece of someone elses work, but if that is the case, perhaps this artist should at least admit it. (Perhaps by posting the isolated samples on line that was confession enough?) I still think its a worthy release and have no regrets buying this CD.
