Just looking at the remixer one may be so enthusiastic and wondering how can be such wonderful experiment, just figure it out, Laibach remixing Morbid Angel: All time epic electronica avantgarde with raw death metal satanist. nevertheless its not to be rare to find Laibach doing remixes of this type because its common to see them doing covers of strange nature and even improving radically the original version. We have examples such as "Life is life", "simpathy with the devil" and "final countdown" among others. But this is not the case at all. First of all notice that they are supervising the remix and producing it through their alter ego: 300.000 V.K. So they are not directly doing the remix. The remixes doesnt differ much of the original versions and the proof for your ears its that the original versions are included in the EP. Sworn to black was basically remixed to invigorate the drum set with a odd final result, the drums sound a bit industrialized but still preserve its metal qualities which is sort of pitiful. theres some subtle additions that may seem very Laibachian but all in all this is death metal from cradle to grave. The pro of the remix of this song its the feeling of a more epical structure in the song (although very subtle) and a darkening feeling in the general atmosphere, the voice its almost isolated and the guitar role its not that prominent as in the original version. its an acceptable remix considering that this may be really hard to do with this style of music, One may expect a radical change in the structure of the song, probably Laibach could have done it but maybe they respected the original version on purpose or on request of the band, they just added enphasis and remained death metal as what it is...metal. The second song "God of Emptiness" its the poorest of the entire record. they just added this SWOOSH type effect on all the song and the same emphasis on the drum set, the voice its a bit distorted which gives it a more twisted and dark touch. This song its pretty interesting becouse its very very slow considering the genre in which it was made, with the remix it sound even more slow becouse seems the drums have representative role it makes you follow its tempo which its almost doom. I think that on this song Laibach could have done a lot better work, something pretty interesting becouse the song per se its interesting but unfortunately they preserved again (with such a lousy fortune for all laibach fan) the general form of the original song. An album just for a true fan freak of Laibach but dont expect too much Laibach from it youll just find Morbid Angel with some Laibachian spices.
