The opening cut, "Transform", introduces the EP with shuffled kick drums lending the track a vaguely "broken" feel while mysterious electronic textures float over the top. "Froglocker" (an excellent title!) fuses 303 and breakbeat to create what's potentially the funkiest tune on the EP. The filtered chords floating over the top are reminiscent of tracks like "Off-Axis Gravitational Fields" from Acid Rain III, but are far more understated.
The B-side tracks are far more heads-down. "Last Outing" - a great track to open a set with - opens with melancholy gated strings before introducing the crisply-EQ'd 909 to astonishing effect. Without resorting to trance-inducing loopism, it retains its dancefloor appeal while being varied enough to remain interesting. "Redrain" is the EP's hardest track, with reversed feedback sounds and a heavily compressed 909 kick conspiring to create an atmosphere of menace. The resulting effect is not unlike several tracks on the early Axis EPs.
