This is a really enjoyable release. For someone who is just getting into this artists catalogue, these particular cuts seem to be a little less aggressive than some of his other stuff. They are still damn heavy, but the augmentation of the chopped-up, stutter breaks with Indian sonic flavors, to me, creates for a listening experience that is surprisingly unabrasive. Melodic, even beautiful effects and textures (vocals, traditional Indian instruments, etc.) initially caught be off guard, but pleasantly so. Comes highly recommended. If you dig the whole tradition Indian-hybrid motif, then check out DJ Shadow and Automators "Bombay the Hard Way" series (thought the second installment is an almagamation of various underground hip-hop/breaks producers).
