Reviews & Discussion

Review by ethan Sep 25, 2007
The title says "Complete"; and, up to 1993, when this box set was released, yea, this is freakin' complete. All five of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductees' studio albums are here, sprinkled with a few live cuts and B-sides for good measure. From wanna-be punks to "white reggae" specialists to God knows what they became, this trio was always capable of volatile moments on stage and off. This collection also shows just how much they had grown over the years. Nobody could play atmospheric-style guitar the way Andy Summers could. And Stewart Copeland's drum lit, at times, rivaled that of Rush' Neil Peart (by the way, where can I buy some octobans - is that right? - that Stew has?). What Sting has done goes without saying. Maybe it's better that they quit at the top. Frankly, how COULD they possibly do better than 'Synchronicity'? Anyone who saw their recent reunion tour (and shelled the mucho moolah to do so) knows how legendary their status is. Now, they finally have the respect that they deserve. Buy this (preferably form a friend who's in a music club that can get this at a discount) for all the Police you need - unless you wish to find live bootlegs and, of course, the remixes.
