Various - American Gigolo

Label: International Deejay Gigolo Records
Catalog#: GIGOLO 85 CD
Format: CD
Country:Germany
Released:2002
Genre: Electronic
Style: Electro, Tech House
Credits: DJ Mix - Tiga
Notes:International Deejay Gigolos is the Munich-based record label run by techno legend DJ Hell. Started in 1996, as an affiliate of Disko B, the label quickly established itself as THE definitive cult label. 'American Gigolo' is an introduction to the sound of this seminal label. Tiga has gone through the label's first 75 releases and hand selected the critical tracks, mixing them together for a seamless trip from vocal synth-pop to nu-wave techno. In a genre of music which is so often lacking in character, humor and vision... Gigolo excels.

User Reviews:

Astronica, Jul 28, 2006

Despite the fact that Tiga personally cherry-picked the 25 tracks present on this particular compilation from the International Deejay Gigolo Records label, in my opinion it takes about seven or eight tracks for the album to come to life. However, from Tiga And Zyntherius' 'Sunglasses At Night' onwards, this cd begins to take the listener on a rollercoaster ride through some storming pieces of electro, particularly when the grimy opening synths of David Carretta's 'Vicious Game' kick in. Personal highlights from this compilation include the aforementioned tracks, plus the relentless 'You Prefer Cocaine' by Vitalic, The Advent's 'In Range' and Miss Kittin & The Hacker's 'Gratin Dauphinois'. It might take a considerable amount of time for this compilation to really get into gear, but ultimately it is well worth the wait.
