3rd Door Left, the third album by German duo Hacienda, finds them speeding up a bit. Gone, for the most part, are the lazy rhythms; instead, we have some crisp breaks and even some house. “Sabor,” with its Spanish lyrics, seems a far cry from their other work -- not that it’s bad. No, far from it; their embrace of lyrics (even just the little bits in “Late Lounge Lover” gives their songs some pep). “Unfinished and Undone” harkens back to their earlier work, but “Me Da Um Favor” brings you back to the present. “Nord-O.S.T.” is all chill, as is the delicate “Poeme.” Even though I appreciate and applaud their new direction, I feel their album Narrowed Eyes was still a bit stronger. But don’t let that stop you from opening the 3rd Door Left. Was the above review useful to you? (report)
