Reviews & Discussion

Definitely a masterpiece and the best thing that ever went out from Akufen's hand. After really nice "My way", the next few singles really got me irritated with their still-the-same aesthetics. But this one is wonderful. distorted. essential.

Something prevents me from saying that this is a good LP - although it contains an emotional density that is missing from the sound collage that dominates his work as Akufen. As "Music for 3 Pregnant Women" there are 9 tracks, which I presume is one for each stage of pregnancy. It veers between the guitar ambience that is found in earlier work like "Train to Barcelona" and some deeper techno workouts, but at the heart of it is "85eme", an eerie track replete with classic (or cliched depending on how you see it) ambient callsigns like seagulls and thunderstorms.

There's not enough individualism on here to say that this is worthwhile, but somehow it has been a constant on my stereo for some time, and I guess that's due to the warm themes throughout. Ultimately quixotic.

As Akufen, Marc Leclair has produced numerous EP’s and a critically acclaimed album for Force Inc. Music Works. With “Musique Pour 3 Femmes Enceintes” being his first release under his real name, he strips back his trademark cut-up house music for something much more reduced and minimal. The tracks sound much like a combination of Raster-Noton glitch aesthetics with Kompakt Pop Ambient soundscapes. Only the last four tracks sound anything like his work as Akufen. A brilliant album that showcases his range of musical talent. 5/5.

Marc Leclair is beginning to put fear to me.
Very DEEP minimal(in order to describe in superficial way the content).
With "Musique pour 3 femmes enceinte", he still more introduces himself to be a lot minimal than other artists.
Only pieces of the most fine music, a MUST to have and to listen for all the Akufen's fans.
And not only.
