Volume 20 of the longest running psi-trance series – vol. 1 came out in 1996 making 2005 the 10th year with a release. As the previous 2 or 3 volumes, disc 1 features the more full on psychedelic trance while disc 2 is more laid back showcasing the progressive goa sound. Some favourites of mine are:-

Pannalized - nothing to explain in particular here, just a fast melody as it should.

Theory of Gravitation - very dark track by 4 Carry Nuts, no easily recognisable melody but some weird sounds an a very stomping kick – surely a floor killer.

Starbuck – remember in 1994 “Dark & Long” by Underworld? Long time you don’t hear it? Well, Starbuck samples that legendary track. The beat is identical and the melody is almost the same!

Pornodelica – despite the name, there is no porn in this tune, instead a very gentle melody on a mid-tempo beat (it’s not quite progressive) and has a touching chant in the middle.

What Can I Say – Sweat Attack gives a very innovative cut –downtempo beat, some guitars in the background and a male voice singing – certainly not for dancing but quite good for listening at home. Quite original indeed.

Compiled by DJ Tomtron, once again this volume comes with that nice glossy digipak case and an unbeatable sound quality!
