scoundrel, Apr 13, 2004 Dabrye brings on the deep funk with his album Instrmntl, full of hip-hop beats and abstract electronics. Right from “Intrdctn” and “Won,” there’s a funkiness that’s unmistakable as it is catchy.
“Evelyn” throws some jazzy horns into the mix, while “This Is Where I Came In” is almost straightforward electro. My favorite track would be “D-Town Tabernacle Choir,” a track filled with wobbly piano and solid beats. A good album, albeit rather short.
