Malik gets crazy dirty on his first full release solo 12". "Cherry Lee" in both incarnations features a twisted vocal bit over a clean minimal beat, vaguely similar to the recent work of Omar-S on 007. "Dirty" and especially "Nyrobi Knight" really take it to the next level of minimal experimental house music. The tracks have even more grit than Basic Channel and drive like the most dancefloor cuts of Theo Parrish (whose influence is obvious in Malik's chords, but is by no means overwhelming). I'm totally in love with Fxhe right now, and this EP is one of the reasons why. They're taking house music to that next level.
