This is one of my favorite albums of all time. The terms "ambient" and "industrial," however, are probably misleading. The only connection to so-called industrial music is the work a lot of these artists produced much earlier in their careers—David Tibet was part of 23 Skidoo, Psychic TV, and Whitehouse, and Steven Stapleton is the man behind Nurse With Wound. What I love about Current 93, though, is how different each one of their albums is from any of their others. "Thunder Perfect Mind" combines old English ballads, folk music, apocalyptic musings, biblical references, and odd literary influences to create a unique and beautiful work. It's not like anything else I've ever heard. To be honest, I didn't like it at first, but it grew with me, and now I think it's absolutely brilliant. I'm always hesitant to recommend Current 93, since their music doesn't exactly appeal to everyone, but if you're curious, this album is a good place to start. Was the above review useful to you?
