Reviews & Discussion

Review by noddie Apr 12, 2007 (edited over 2 years ago)
This album from Robert hood will always be something special for me, it really got me into techno, it was the first Detroit techno i heard and the first tracks from Robert Hood.
I saw it in a recordstore and asked if i could listen to that stuff, ofcourse i could! I remember myself listening to it over and over again, it was something i had never heard before, so raw, minimal and funky! this was it, since then i loved techno..
I think i've readed in a interview with Robert hood once, was that this was his "At war album", he said something like "i am not going anywhere, this is the new rob hood, with a new battery in his back".
Its knocking, in your face techno!
The album kicks off with the track Memo from thunder, well it is a Memo from thunder! Classic Detroit stuff, so driven, every sound pushes the other sound forward, it sounds like a machine, full at work!
The track Pitch black is hard forward stomping stuff, very heavy kick, where most of hood's kicks are quitte short and punchy, this is heavy sounding stuff.
These two tracks i've just mentioned are the most pumpin, driven tracks on the album, from here it get's a little more experimental.
Wrath Meditation, Who Taught You Math, The Body Human and Off Balancers, are all a bit more experimental like i said, some funky stuff, the track Body human sounds a bit mills like.
Last track here is Keep runnin, this is another mastered mix of the track fiend which is on Robert hood's Spectra e.p.
A classic release for me!
