This mix makes me discover this kind of Electro - beetween kraftwerk and new wave. I was listening to techno of all kind when I heard this thing, wich was in a mainstream music shop in France year 2000, I was wondering : "it sounds really 80's, but it's cool and dark as hell, what the f*** is it ??" I listened this CD in repeat mode for months and looked for all the artists mentionned, this playlist was THE perfect source : Doppler, I-f, Rude66, Adult, Perspects .. Some all time-classics, mixed perfectly (some pieces are so well combined that I was thinking it was one and same track), 10 years later I'm still in a perfect love with this music (and this mix), perfect groove with precious delicate retrofuturistic sounds.
Special mention for the not-so-known track "Fadin Away (dima remix)", kind of speed cosmic disco, wich strikes right into my childhood memories, remembering an old 80's movie, driving fast on a dark road, very nostalgic ..
Today, I'm doing mostly electro, and everything started with this disc !! Thanks !!

The Hacker brings together some of the best electro around in 2001 into one DJ mix. Stand out tracks are Rude 66 My 909, Adult. Hand to phone, Silver locusts A Barren garden, and a personal favourite of mine Tender Taming by Perspects. Even better he finishes up with Broken mirror which never fails to get me singing along. Well worth it if you can find it.

This album is a great mix CD from The Hacker. Yeah, he spices things up just enough to keep things kooky, interesting and fun. But then he also shows the dramatic side of the album's electro genre at just the right moments. Anyway, it's clear that The Hacker's skills as a musician are on show here. Listen up.

Overall, though, I guess you could say that The Hacker starts this mix at a climax, works down from there, and then finishes with a climax again (although the latter more subtler than to begin with). Sure, I'll be honest and say I've only listened to this album about forty to fifty times. But I still know it's worth a spin or two. Personal favourites for me include Scientist by Dopplereffekt, Broken Mirror by Random Factor, Anthem by Artist Unknown, Visualise by The Advent, Fadin Away (Dima Remix) by The Hacker, and Hand To Phone by Adult.

So, the bottom line is that this CD won't disappoint. And LSD freaks will like it too (not speaking from recent experience). It's a 5/5 from me, Margaret.
